Dev Log #1 – Laying the Foundation
Assets
I've started putting together some early visuals, I used a mix of free assets and original art for now. I grabbed a couple from CraftPix and Itch.io, and also made one ourselves (shoutout to my friend who helped out with that). I have put the "main character" down below which came from Craftpix. It's still a work in progress, but the style is starting to come together nicely.
Coding
On the coding side, progress is admittedly slow. I’ve mainly been experimenting with how I want to structure the game systems. The big focus right now is the parrying mechanic, well to be fair that is the only mechanic. So far, I’ve implemented a simple trigger collider that detects when I press Spacebar and checks if the enemy attack game object is inside that collider at the same time , a kind of “hit window” to simulate parrying. It’s really basic and I'd love to improve on that more as I progress, would love some ideas on how to do that!
Thoughts
I really wanted to do more this week but unfortunately with me being busy trying to catch up on my activities and spending time with my friends and family, it was hard. I really want to add more features to deepen the combat system but well....unfortunately I'm not that good. So i've decided to scale it down a bit for now so I can focus on just the core aspects. Next week I plan to have enemy assets done, and an actual file to put into the project. Not a promise though since I am a chronic procrastinator huhu
